Vancouver Asian Film Festival presents Kristin Fung at Guilt & Co.

  • Guilt and Company 1 Alexander Street Vancouver, BC, V6A 1B2 Canada (map)

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, Guilt & Co, and Kristina Lao, with the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, have co-curated an evening of Asian-Canadian talent, to elevate and celebrate some of the immense musical talent that our local community has to offer. VAFF is also providing a full day of professional development and workshops for artists looking to develop their musical careers in film, television, gaming and media industries.

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival is Canada's longest running Asian film festival and Western Canada's largest racialized film festival. Through this and many other programs and events hosted in Vancouver, VAFF’s mission is to engage in, support and amplify Asian presence in film and television. Tonight's show includes guests of the Asians In Music (AIM) initiative, part of VAFF's year-long programming to support emerging and established Asian Canadian Music Community.

About the Artist:
Returning to Vancouver after seven years in Toronto, Kristin Fung’s ferocious, tender, and captivating voice as a lead singer, keyboardist, songwriter, and improviser traverse musical landscapes of “soulful grace [and] jazzy joy” (From The Intercom) and funky R&B. Her uplifting originals evoke self-accompanying piano queens Alicia Keys and Patrice Rushen, showing off her powerhouse lungs and groovy piano chops. Fung's bandleader performances include Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Classical Garden (2023), Vancouver International Jazz Festival (2021), Markham Jazz Festival (2019), and Ong King (Honolulu, 2019). She is joined by local heavies ZiZi (vocals), Suin Park (keyboard), Alvin Brendan (guitar), Victor Balconi (bass), and Liam MacDonald (drums).
