Kristin Fung is a singer, pianist, songwriter and band leader from Vancouver, British Columbia

From high school musicals to singing in church to a bachelor's degree in classical voice, Kristin Fung emerges with a voracious appetite for the sounds of R&B, jazz, gospel and funk. Inspired greatly by Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Jill Scott and Stevie Wonder, Fung is distinctively known for her vibrant melodies, charged lyrics and exuberant stage presence. In 2010, she made her debut as lead singer of her six-piece band to more than a thousand spectators on Canada Day at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
A fierce and multifaceted performer, Fung finds herself at home in an unpredictable collection of genres from musical theatre — she is a winner of the E.V. Young Award for Most Outstanding Performance at Theatre Under the Stars — to gospel — she has been a featured soloist with the Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir and the Marcus Mosely Chorale — to free improvised music: Fung was a chosen to sing in the world debut of Anthony Braxton's Sonic Genome Project, part of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad. "I feel that you really understand what we're trying to do here," said musical pioneer Braxton after her performance. "We recognize a diamond when we see one."
